Planes are fun

I flew back home on friday and it was quite the experience. First I am a good little traveler and I get to the airport in plenty of time to catch my flight. This time I got there a little after 1:00. My flight left at 2:44 and I was checked-in, through security and waiting at my gate by 1:30. I wasn't sure that I was at the right gate at first because there wasn't a gate listed on my boarding pass and the flight number was wrong on the little sign. But the time and the city were right and I realised that Delta only had the one gate. So I waited at the gate and read my book and it was nice. About 2:40 I began to get a little worried because I could see that my plane wasn't there yet. Sure enough, at about 2:50 they decided to announce that the flight was delayed because of maintenance or something like that. So we wait and they announce that if you have a connection before 4:45 that you need to see about later connections. My was at 4:45 so they said it would be alright. So we finally get on the plane and take off and the actually flight was fine. We get to Cincinnati and circle around for about 10 min, then we start coming in for a landing and I can see the airport and then I notice that we're not going down anymore, we're going up. A little while later the pilot announces that the tower got us a little to close to another plane. That was comforting. So we circle around for another 10 min and we make it all the way down this time. I get off and walk very quickly to my next gate. I look on the screen as I go by and it says the plane is on time (it's about 4:40 at this point). I follow the signs until I'm sure that I'm in the right place, the signs have numbers and my boarding pass has number, but lo and behold the gates have letters. So I look on all the little signs above the people and find St. Louis. This time it's the right flight number and everything. It still says that it is on time, it's not boarding yet, but there is a line of people waiting, so I sat down and waited. And then I waited some more. They announce that the plane will be leaving shortly so please stay in the area, and I start wondering if I should call my mommy and tell her what is going on. But I figure there's really no reason because I made my connection, so I wait some more. Somewhere around 4:55 they announce that the flight is delayed. Whoa, big surprise there. It was only supposed to leave 10 min ago. So I'm thinking about calling Mom again, but they are acting like it's only going to be a few more minutes so I wait. They they announce that it's delayed again, so I go to the phone and call mom and tell her that I'm going to be late. She's didn't seem very concerned because Dad was the one picking me up. They announce that they are going to start boarding soon, so I get off the phone and go back to my seat. I only had to wait a little bit and then they let us make our way towards the plane. We all get on and wait, after a bit the captain tells us that they are having some problems fueling the plane. I've got a window seat so I can see the people messing around with stuff and that amuses me for a while. I read my book for a bit and then the captain says it's all taken care of and they did the whole safety review bit. And we sit there, and we wait. The captain gets on again and he sounds a bit annoyed. He informs us that the airline won't let us take off because there is an employee that wants to go with us. So we wait. Again. I'm starting to get a little miffed. About an hour and a half after we were originally supposed to leave, the guy shows up and we finally take off. After that the all the announcements were made by the copilot. I suspect that the pilot was too miffed. The flight to St. Louis was relatively uneventful. I got some pretty pictures of the sunset and the clouds though.
When I got to the airport I found Daddy pretty quickly. He had bought a book and some gummy bears, but he had been waiting a while and was kinda miffed too, but not nearly as much as the pilot and me. I told Daddy the whole story, and then I said that I wouldn't be surprised if they lost my luggage too.
We waited for my luggage for a while and looked around a bit and then decided that they had lost my luggage. I was not surprised. I waited a long time in the line to tell them that my luggage was lost and then we went home. My luggage came the next day, but I'm still not pleased about that flight. The great part is that they kept saying "Sorry for the trouble. Thank you for choosing Delta." These people are incorrigible.
