So I slept for 12 hours last night. 2:00-2:00. I ate a chocolate cookie and two-thirds of a wonka bar for breakfast. I am avoiding getting out of bed because I don't want to clean the wreakage that remains after the Christmas Banquet preparation. So I've been crocheting a teddy bear and reading people's blogs for about two hours now. I wish that I didn't have homework to do. As my roommate told me the other day "Michelle, I think that you would be really fun all the time if you didn't have any homework." to which I replied "You're probably right." Homework makes me disagreeable.
Our hall is well onto its way into being completely transformed into the Wood Between Worlds. If you don't know what that is, quickly go read the first bit of the Magician's Nephew and get back to me. If you don't know what the Magician's Nephew is, it is chronologically the first book in the Chronicles of Narnia. If you don't know what the Chronicles of Narnia is get off my blog, you are not my friend. So anyway, at our Christmas party we told the girls that we were going to have supplies for them to make trees to go on the walls and for them to make their doors into pools of water. Everyone's room is another world. Get it. YAY!! It makes me so happy.
WHERE WILL YOU BE DECEMBER 9, 2005?
To end I will share this beautiful quote from Tolkien's Essay of Fairy Stories that I found on wikiquote. It gives me the urge to swoon.
"I have claimed that Escape is one of the main functions of fairy-stories, and since I do not disapprove of them, it is plain that I do not accept the tone of scorn or pity with which 'Escape' is now so often used. Why should a man be scorned if, finding himself in prison, he tries to get out and go home? Or if he cannot do so, he thinks and talks about other topics than jailers and prison-walls?" ~J.R.R. Tolkien
I can't help but post this other one too.
"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world. ~ Mere Christianity
~C.S. Lewis
Ahh. I wish that the loves of my life weren't old, married, dead Englishmen.
