Dr. Hill's Birthday

Dr. Hill is my Chemistry professor and thursday was his birthday so Elisabeth, Jillian and I decided to celebrate. We had so much fun. Elisabeth and Jillian are two other freshman bio majors, Jillian was my roommate at Summit. The three of us started our own little club, the FHBC, future housewives of Bryan College. We cook and knit and crochet and now we throw parties for our science professors.
Elisabeth asked Dr. Hill what his favorite molecule was, so he told her and drew it for her and told her why it was his favorite molecule. (men are so funny and easy to surprise, why is that?) It was this molecue with two 5-ring carbon chains that he got his doctrate on. So we made little cupcakes and got these food coloring markers and drew the element names on the cupcakes and arranged them in the shape of the molecule. We also got a whole bunch of balloons and wrote elements on those. An interesting thing we found out about Dr. Hill is that he translates the Bible into Kingon for fun, so I got on-line and looked up how to write aned say happy birthday in Klingon (it's now my favorite phrase and you will no doubt be hearing it from me next time you see me).
So on thursday before we had lab, we all sneaked up to the third floor admin. Jillian went and got the rest of the science faculty involved while Elisabeth and I hid and guarded the balloons, three garbage bags full, and cupcakes. We hid the balloons in Dr. Hartz's office, snuck into the chem lab and I drew Klingon on the board, Jillian distracted Dr. Hill, and Elisebeth arranged cupcakes in his office (we aren't allowed to eat anything in chem lab). I snuck out of the lab and pretended I was just walking up the stairs. I talked to Jillian and Dr.Hill for a while and then we let him go into the lab. We waited to take a picture of him looking at the board before we ran down to Dr. Hartz's office, grabbed the balloons, and ran to Dr. Hills office. There the three of us each took a bag and started shaking it furiously to get the balloons out while laughing insanely. This is when Dr. Hill came in. Then he left. Dr. Hartz came into see what we had done and got Dr. Hill to come back with her. He really liked his molecule, he had to rearrange it a bit. Then we gave him a card Jillian had made, it had a recipie on one side (stuff like 3 crazy bio majors, 5 g. latex, 20 g C6H12O6) and on the other side Jillian had manipulated wire into the shape of happy birthday and put a picture of us on it which she had burned the edges of, because something Dr. Hill always says is that all chemists are closet pyros.
So on the whole I think Dr. Hill really liked it. He's such a fun professor. And we decided that we were now celebrating all the science faculty's birthdays from now on. We've already made plans for Dr. Barnett, the botany prof.

Kara

Alright, I know that you were all thinking that Ann was my only friend. But that's not true. I have lots of friends. I've just been to busy to write about them. So there.
Kara Layden is my RA. She is one of the funniest people I've ever met. Her parents foster babies until they are adopted so Kara loves little kids and pretty much acts like them most of the time.
Probably sometime during the first month I was here Kara stole my magnetic duck and put it up on her door. I didn't notice for awhile so she made fun of me quite a bit. I told Lisa about it ove IM and she told me to steal something of Kara's. I didn't think I could do that 'cause she always locks her door and she doesn't have a roomate.
So like a couple days later I was coming out of the bathroom and noticed that Kara was down the hall and she had left her keys in her door. So I took them. Not the best thing to steal as you will see. So I ran back into my room and showed Ann. She thought it was hilarious. So I hid the keys under my pillow and we both went to sleep. Kara came in a little later, but since we both looked like we were asleep, she didn't say anything.
The next morning my plan was to put the keys in her door right before I left for class, but she was standing there. She then proceeded to tell Ann and me about how she came back last night to get some things so she could spend the night at her friends house and how she then lost her keys. (*hides face*, I am so ashamed)
When she couldn't find her keys she got really upset and searched her room top to bottom several times. She then decided she wasn't going to go to her friend's house, but she couldn't do homework because she left her backpack in her car along with her phone so she couldn't call her friend either. So she went and woke up one of the other RAs and they went to her friend's house (the same on she was going to sleep over with) to get her spare key. So after throwing rocks at her window for several minutes her friend finally woke up and gave her the key. And so Kara came back to the dorm and went to sleep.
So back to when Kara is telling this sad story to me and Ann. If Ann hadn't been there I probably would have broken down and given Kara back her keys, but Ann was playing along so I did too. When I got back from class I stuck the keys in Kara's door and went back to my room. Kara came into our room a little later and after flat out lying to her several time I finally let on that I had taken her keys. Kara forgave me and now loves me and guards her keys more carefully.

Matt

Something significant that happened this past friday is the death of a freshman named Matt Wilhoite. He died in a car accident. I didn't know him because he was on the basketball team and a commuter, but a lot of the other sports people are taking it pretty hard, especially the basketball team. Please pray for his parents, he was an only child.
